About you

Most Granby House residents are in their 80s or 90s. They may have lived in Youlgrave or the surrounding area, or they may have lived a long way away, and want to come to Youlgrave to be near relatives who live in the village or nearby.

Most residents come to Granby House because they want more social interaction with other people, have appetising meals cooked for them, or want to avoid the burden of managing their own home. Granby House provides a safer environment than living by yourself.

You need to be sufficiently mobile to get to the bathroom alone, and to be able to get to the dining room by yourself. It is fine if you need to use a stick, a walking frame, or a wheelchair. We have a lift if this is easier than stairs. You should also be able to make your own breakfast.

Granby House is not suitable for those who need a care home, or a nursing home.
